Let’s face it… skincare doesn’t start and end at your cleanser. At Sleekskin®, we believe beauty is an inside job. What you put on your plate can be just as powerful as what you put on your skin.
The good news? You don’t need an overhaul. By incorporating a few skin-loving foods into your daily routine, you can nourish your complexion, support your skin’s natural barrier, and even help slow signs of aging. Think of it as skincare you can chew.
Here are a few of my favorite skin-supportive nutrients and where to find them:
1. Omega-3 Fatty Acids
These healthy fats help keep skin supple and hydrated. They also reduce inflammation (which means less redness and sensitivity).
Eat more: Wild salmon, flaxseeds, walnuts, chia seeds
2. Antioxidants
These powerhouses protect your skin from free radical damage (think sun, stress, and pollution).
Eat more: Berries, leafy greens, sweet potatoes, green tea
3. Vitamin C
Essential for collagen production, which helps keep your skin firm and glowing.
Eat more: Citrus fruits, bell peppers, kiwi, broccoli
4. Zinc
This mineral helps with cell regeneration and can keep breakouts at bay.
Eat more: Pumpkin seeds, lentils, chickpeas, quinoa
5. Water (yes, really)
Skin needs hydration to function properly and while serums help, they can’t do it all. Drinking plenty of water keeps skin looking plump and clear.
Try this tip: Add lemon, cucumber, or a splash of chlorophyll to your water for extra detoxifying benefits.
6. Sulfur
Sulfur might not be the flashiest mineral, but it’s a behind-the-scenes hero for healthy skin. It supports collagen production, helps your body fight inflammation, and plays a key role in detoxification—aka clearing out the gunk that can dull your glow.
Eat more: Garlic, onions, broccoli, cauliflower, eggs, beans, and seafood (like shellfish and lobster)
